Ding Xuexiang urges removal of trade barriers to ensure free circulation of high-quality green products

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang called for the removal of trade barriers at the climate summit to ensure the free circulation of high-quality green products. 

According to Xinhua News Agency, Ding Xuexiang delivered a speech at the Belem Climate Summit of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Belem, Brazil on Thursday (November 6th). He said that currently, humanity is at a new crossroads and all parties need to adhere to true multilateralism, strengthen unity and cooperation, and promote stable and sustainable global climate governance.

Ding Xuexiang proposed three suggestions at the meeting. He said, "First, grasp the correct direction, maintain confidence, coordinate the goals of protecting the environment, developing the economy, creating jobs, and eliminating poverty, and jointly promote the improvement of people''s livelihood and climate governance, promoting high-quality development and better benefiting people of all countries." 

Ding Xuexiang further stated that the second point is to implement climate action. We should adhere to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, fully and effectively implement the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement. Developed countries should fulfill their obligations to reduce emissions first, earnestly fulfill their financial commitment, and provide more technical and capacity-building support to developing countries. 

He mentioned that the third point is to deepen open cooperation and promote global green and low-carbon transformation, which requires a favorable international economic and trade cooperation environment. "We need to strengthen international collaboration on green technologies and industries, remove trade barriers, ensure the free circulation of high-quality green products, and better meet the global demand for sustainable development." 

Ding Xuexiang concluded by saying that China is willing to work with all parties to persistently promote green and low-carbon development and to strive for building a beautiful world where humans and nature coexist in harmony.
